Baked Brie
Baked brie is something that most consider to be a high class and elegant appetizer. This recipe takes it to the next level by adding butter toasted almonds and roasted garlic on top of the cheese. Your guests will be delighted by this combination of flavors spread on your favorite warm bread. I like to use sourdough with brie as it has just the right texture and flavor for this soft gooey cheese. This hot appetizer will add an elegance to any gathering. Enjoy!
Brie with Almonds and Roasted Garlic 1 Tbsp butter 1/4 cup sliced almonds Half head of roasted garlic (about 6 cloves) 8 ounce brie wheel Salt and pepper to taste Heat oven to 300 degrees F. In small sauce pan melt butter on medium heat. Add almonds and toast them to a light golden brown. Remove from heat and add in the roasted garlic. Mash the garlic to break it up and stir it in with the almonds. Using a sharp knife, slice off the thin rind on top of the wheel of brie. Place brie on a foil covered baking sheet with cut side up. Sprinkle the cheese lightly with salt and pepper. Spoon on the almond and garlic mixture. Bake for 15 to 25 min. or until the cheese is very hot and soft. Serve with warm sourdough bread slices.
