Cheese Fondue

Cheese fondue is a classy and fun appetizer to serve at any function. You can use a combination of your favorite cheeses and dippers to create the perfect fondue experience for your guests. I used a mixture of cheddar and gouda in this recipe as they are two of my favorite cheeses. I love the flavor the white wine gives to the fondue. Try serving breads with different textures and colors along with the fondue. Try dense and dark pumpernickel along with airy and white French bread. You can dip your favorite vegetables such as carrots and broccoli too. This appetizer just might be the most popular of the evening!

Cheese fondue with cheddar, gouda, and white wine.

Cheddar and Gouda Fondue

1 cup white wine

1 Tbsp butter

1 Tbsp white all purpose flour

2 2/3 cup grated cheddar cheese

2 2/3 cup grated gouda cheese

Pour wine in small sauce pan and bring to a boil. At the same time, melt butter in another saucepan and whisk in flour. Stir constantly for 5 minutes taking care not to burn. Pour wine into butter and flour mixture and whisk together until smooth.

Slowly add the cheese and stir until completely melted. Transfer cheese mixture to fondue pot. Keep warm over a low flame.
