Hummus Recipe
This hummus recipe is sure to please! Hummus is a hearty dip made primarily of blended garbanzo beans (chickpeas). It is a Middle Eastern starter and is one of my favorites. It is great to have hummus at an appetizer party because it is very filling and paired with a few other appetizers it will surely fill up your guests. Serve with hot pita bread, and try whole wheat pitas to maintain the healthiness of the appetizer. Dipping veggies such as celery and cut up bell pepper is delicious too.
Hummus 1 large can (11 to 15 ounces) garbanzo beans drained, reserve liquid Juice of 1 small lime 3 to 4 cloves fresh garlic chopped 1/2 medium white onion chopped 2 Tbsp sesame seeds 1 Tbsp olive oil 2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 2 tsp dry parsley flakes Blend all ingredients in food processor or blender until fully mixed. Add a few tablespoons of reserved garbanzo bean liquid until desired texture is achieved. Lay out hot pitas, celery, or cut bell pepper for dipping.
