Mozzarella Sticks

Mozzarella sticks are golden crispy delights filled with hot gooey mozzarella cheese. This appetizer recipe takes just minutes to whip up and serve to your party guests. They’ll be delighted to nibble on these restaurant appetizer favorites right in someone’s home! My favorite sauce to use for dipping is marinara sauce. You could also use ranch, aioli, barbeque sauce or any other dip that you love.

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

1 lb. mozzarella cheese cut into 1/2 inch X 3 1/2 inch sticks

1/4 cup white flour

4 eggs beaten

1 1/2 cups bread crumbs seasoned with 3 tsp chili powder, and salt & pepper to taste

Cooking oil

Fill large heavy frying pan with 1 inch of oil. Turn to medium heat.

Prepare dredging station next to the fry pan placing bread crumbs closest, then egg, then flour. 8X8 glass pans work best for this process.

Test oil: Place small fresh piece of bread in oil and if it turns brown in 45 seconds the oil is ready (about 365 degrees F.)

Completely cover cheese sticks with each dredging ingredient. First, dust with flour; then dip in egg, and lastly roll in bread crumbs.

Place covered cheese sticks in oil and repeat until the pan is full but none are touching. Cook on one side until deep golden brown and turn with tongs. Cook on the other side until golden brown and remove to drain on paper towels.

Repeat process until all the cheese is cooked. Serve with marinara sauce or other favorite dipping sauce.
