Pinwheel Appetizers
Pinwheel appetizers are very popular because they are fun to look at and fun to eat! You can combine almost any ingredient you want and roll it all in a tortilla. There are a few tips to stick to when making these morsels. Make sure to use very colorful ingredients. You want the colors to pop when you slice them up and lay them out. The thicker the layers, the more body they will have. If you just do one layer of cream cheese on the tortilla you are going to have tiny little rolls that don’t look too great. Layer things like pink ham, yellow cheese, green onions, and red tomatoes to really give body to this great appetizer recipe.
Easy Pinwheel Appetizers
The below appetizer recipe is simply one variation. The sky is the limit so start layering and rolling your pinwheels!
Cream Cheese and Turkey Pinwheels5 (10 inch) flour tortillas 1 cup cream cheese 15 green onion stalks 1/3 cup chopped tomato (blotted dry) 10 deli turkey slices Lay out tortillas and spread equal amounts of cream cheese on each one evenly to the edges. Lay three green onion stalks across each tortilla; one near the top edge, one across the middle, and one near the bottom edge. Sprinkle equal amounts of chopped tomato on each tortilla so they are evenly distributed. Lay two slices of turkey on each tortilla on top of the onion and tomato. The turkey should cover most of the tortilla. Cut off any extra onion ends that are sticking out and roll the tortillas gently from bottom to top. Wrap in plastic wrap and twist plastic ends like a piece of candy. Refrigerate for a few hours. Remove plastic wrap and cut each roll into 8 to 10 equal slices, discarding ends.
