Smoked Salmon Appetizer

Your guests will never turn down a classy smoked salmon appetizer. There is something about that smoky taste that is so irresistible. The below recipe includes the classic combination of cream cheese, salmon, capers, and red onion.

All these ingredients work perfectly on a crisp thin Melba toast. I like using Melba toasts because they aren’t too thick and don’t take away from the medley of tastes going on on-top of them.

You can prepare these appetizers about 15 to 20 min. before guests arrive and keep them in the fridge. If you make them too early the cream cheese will dry out and crack a little. You can also garnish these little beauties with fresh dill if you desire.

Lay out crackers on serving tray, and spread each with an equal amount of cream cheese. Remove salmon from packaging and cut into thin strips. Place one strip on each cracker in the shape of a squished “S”.

Press a few capers into the expose cream cheese and top with a small slice of red onion. Garnish with fresh dill if desired. Keep in refrigerator and serve within 15 to 20 min.
